Knowing multiple languages is wonderful, and it is quite the experience to translate words from one language into another. In doing so, you open doors for people to understand content that is written in an unfamiliar language.
Working as a translator means flexibility, creativity and freedom. It means creating your own schedule, choosing your own place of work and playing with words!
At Milengo, we make all this possible through an online training programme perfectly tailored to young talents like you! When you join our team, you gain hands-on experience with translation and get paid for your work, all while enjoying the comfort of your own home office or the freedom of working on the go. All you need to do is to participate in our training program and complete each module successfully.
We have developed a training programme that offers all students and graduates of linguistic fields of study the possibility to gain hands-on experience with commercial translations. We offer a professional, friendly and collaborative working model in which every translator gets the chance to strengthen their language skills through constant support and feedback from an international team of senior linguists and project managers.
Module 1: Initial Training & Test Translations
This phase consists of online testing and training. Selected candidates produce their first test translations. The tests are evaluated by senior linguists, and the feedback is sent back to the candidates. Candidates who pass the tests will get the chance to learn more about our working methods and tools through online tutorials.
Duration: up to 2 months
Module 2: Project Experience (Close Monitoring)
Candidates who have successfully passed through the first phase start working on live projects as junior linguists. They work on real translation projects with client instructions and deadlines and are supported by our carefully selected team of project managers and senior linguists. This is the most important part of the learning curve for the junior linguists. They are paid for their work at a competitive hourly rate, and the workload can vary depending on each linguist’s availability.
Duration: approx. 6 months
Module 3: Continued Project Work (Regular Evaluations)
The linguists who have successfully completed the second phase of training will continue working on regular updates, without the close supervision of a senior linguist. There will be regular evaluations of their work, and the feedback will be shared with the linguists. Tips and tricks for improvement will be provided on an ongoing basis. The work will be paid at the regular hourly rate for projects.
Duration: until 6 good evaluation results have been achieved (approx. 4 months)
Phase 4: Graduation & Ongoing collaboration
The linguists who reach this phase have been performing exceptionally in all the previous stages and are considered established linguists for their project. They now take on a mid-senior-level role, and they are entitled to a first pay raise of 20%. We offer various possibilities for collaboration (freelance work, full-time employment) for linguists who are interested in pursuing a long-term career in translations. They can work on more translation projects covering various topics.
