Boston, 3 November 2009 – In a move that has generated heat in the translation industry today, a presentation by Milengo CEO Renato Beninatto declared that held-to dogmas in translation will kill off industry leaders, leaving only those that innovate to survive.
“By 2015, the companies that get it — and I am talking about companies like Google and Sajan here — they will see the rewards of letting go of old staffing models, old tools and old processes,” said Beninatto. “Translation memory tools will be free or irrelevant and players like SDL — reliant on licensing — are our industry’s dinosaurs. The meteor has hit and their focus on proprietary, small and cautious will not save them.”
